Maybe Steve can tell us what it was / what it does!

Pacific Northwest Homebrew 6502 Multi-card System with novel VFD display panel c1977

The VFD tubes are a wonderful idea. I love the look of that. I'm in Oregon, but I'm also worried about the vast piles of projects that are already on my backlog. Why have you decided to sell?

Rockwell RM 65 Family (AIM 65) Development system?

@Dwight Elvey I can see that it has a 6522 VIA on it, so I assume this means I can hook up serial drivers to the VIA and proceed from there. Do you know if your boards have a custom monitor program? Mine don't have any monitor ROM or any BASIC ROM. Just whatever this program is for the...

Rockwell RM 65 Family (AIM 65) Development system?

Thanks @snuci. I'm going to have fun dumping roms and see if I can figure out what all I have. The AIM65 was easier for me to wrap my head around knowing it had a display and keyboard. The RM65 with a display and no serial and (as far as I know) no keyboard is a little more of a mystery how...

Rockwell RM 65 Family (AIM 65) Development system?

I have some boards to assemble into a system! From left to right, top to bottom, I see: ROM board, video board, ADC board floppy board, cpu board, gpio board different floppy board?, 8k ram board, unknown board I have a backplane on order. Quick question for the RM65 folks here. I don't have...

Pacific Northwest Looking for Rockwell RM65 chassis / motherboard / card cage / backplane

There was a guy on eBay who had one 5-slot RM65 backplane for $25 so I snagged it. We'll see what I end up with. I still wouldn't mind something with the card cage and other hardware parts. Ultimately though I am skilled at 3D printing... :)

Pacific Northwest Looking for Rockwell RM65 chassis / motherboard / card cage / backplane

I found some RM65 boards on ebay. I don't have them yet (in flight), but they look like the style with the euro connectors. Scott

Pacific Northwest Looking for Rockwell RM65 chassis / motherboard / card cage / backplane

I know there's a couple different styles out there -- one 16 card chassis, and maybe a few other likes what appears to be an 8-slot one on Hans's site. I don't need any boards -- just the backplane and cage/chassis. If I don't find one, I'll probably design a motherboard of some sort.

Adding a couple more software names to look for, "vest" and "advest" -- both drivers for later versions of Artic software.

Mid Atlantic Cambridge Z88 for Sale

Looking at the sold history of Z88 on UK eBay is pretty revealing. Sure, there may not be a great selection *right now*, but history will repeat. This is not one of those unobtainable items, nor is it difficult/costly to ship even over great distance.

New England FREE? Should I toss?

I dunno, I think old flatbed scanners are probably one of the least collectable pieces of vintage equipment. They're bulky, obsolete, likely to break in shipping, and perform a function that IMO wasn't all that fun back in the day. I remember sitting around forever waiting for a scanner to...

Australia Dick Smith System 80 X4005

The best way to figure out what it's worth is to put it up on an auction site for $1 starting bid with international shipping enabled and see what it sells for. That it's new and unused does increase the value. For example, I bought a new/unused TRS-80 CoCo in 2021 for about $175 whereas I...

    Sources for S-100 connectors

I did desolder the connector from my backplane last week. Even at 100 pins, the hakko desoldering tool made short work of it and I removed it with no damage to connector or backplane. I walked downstairs to grab a soda to celebrate, and found the aliexpress connectors unexpected waiting in my...

Other US Areas Votrax Votalker IB ISA card Software and manual needed

I got punked by Artic, 30 years after they made the thing. There's nothing wrong with my ROM. There was never intended to be any BIOS option ROM in it. I took the time to reverse the rest of the logic from my board. The ROM is mapped to IO ports 260-267. What is at addresses 260-267 in ROM is...

    Sources for S-100 connectors

Thanks hmb, I ordered some. I may still desolder one from my backplane if I get impatient, or I might just wait for the connectors. I do have a nice Hakko desoldering iron that does a pretty good job, though it still does take caution on anything really large like this. Scott

    Sources for S-100 connectors

Spacing of the solder pins on the back shouldn't matter -- my plan for now is just to manually attach some power leads to it. I found a 20-slot Thinker Toys WunderBuss backplane that I think I can rob connectors from. Previous owner already cut traces on it to change it from a 20-slot backplane...

    Sources for S-100 connectors

For reasons I don't fully understand myself, I bought a TM990/101M. Now this is a TI board, not an S-100, but the connector specification (100 positions, 0.125" pitch) sounds identical to the S-100 connector specification. So I assume the S-100 folks know where to get the connectors. I found a...

Other US Areas Votrax Votalker IB ISA card Software and manual needed

Adding some more info. It seems the DOS software for these cards might have been called "Sonix" and in particular a file "sonixtts.com" may have been the driver. Another possible reference is "Artic Business Vision" which might have included this software. Another related tool might have been...

Other US Areas Votrax Votalker IB ISA card Software and manual needed

Some more details while I'm in investigation mode. I think on my board, IOR goes to that '244 by the DB15, which appears to be an input port present on my board, but not Hexter's board. I didn't find any evidence that my board can be polled for synthesizer status -- the IRQ is generated from...

I have a similar card, an Artic Synphonix. Some of the literature led me to believe that these cards might be compatible, though I'm not really sure. Both of them use an SSI-263. Both of them have a 2764 ROM chip. Mine has an additional 15-pin port which is either an input or output port (I...
