Specifically looking for RTTY and Packet software for the 8 bits. Also, does anyone have any experience with going this route? Were TNC's at the time interfaced via the 850 interface? Joy stick port(s)? SIO bus? Even if I just get receive capability it would be an interesting application Im guessing rig control is probably pipe-dream territory. Any pointers would be good I had a couple of FTP sites (now long gone) and am still looking through the Internet Archive.
Thanks

A PK-232 would be a good option for the 800/850 since the mode software is encoded in ROM. You will need the serial cable for the 850 and possibly a DB9 to DB25 adapter but other than that and a terminal program for the 800 you should be good to go.

I should also mention that to the best of my knowledge only Commodore had dedicated TNC's made for them. That leaves only the RS-232 variety which requires the 850 and appropriate cables to interface together. My setup is a PK-232 going to my 800 via the 850 interface which controls the TS-940S. The PK-232 can do CAT so all you need is a terminal program and you're in business.
