DEC units on ebay

a really useless set of pictures. they should have dropped the back panel.
there should be a large board below the qbus slots

I asked the seller if they could drop the back panel for photos of the boards inside. They responded with photos of the M8192 KDJ11-A, Camintonn CMLV11-J , and the esi System Interface 11/03 card, whatever that one is. Too bad they didn't add those photos to the item listing.

I assume the SMS-1000 "Foundation Module" is still present, as that would probably take more effort to remove than most sellers would bother doing, but you never know...

Might be of interest to some in the uk

Not got space mysef

I am driving right by there (town of Mac in Wales) on Monday.... If I tried to bring that stuff back with me to the states, my return flight would be my funeral procession.....hahaha

Maybe I looked up the wrong one. Doh, I looked up the active one. Sorry. Still shows me the one for $1295.

I looked at it too. But it was already more than I wished to pay. Plus it's only got the 4k core. You need that other thing to add the 2nd. Maybe Vince's mm8i
will solve that?

Lot of 8/Ls have been used with just the 4k core. I would have been perfectly happy with that. The price was very reasonable too.

Oh, I know that. But I prefer 8k myself. I was spoiled as I had a few 8i in the past.

I meant would your solution be viable in an L? Does it have the same slots that you use in the 8i? I would think so, but maybe that would be in the expansion box? I have never seen an 8L so don't know. Just curious.

The 8/L is different. Basically, the Memory Extension/Time Share option is not in the 8/L CPU, whereas it is in the 8/i and PDP-12 CPUs. So more logic (and a connection to the Posibus) is needed for the 8/L. Depending on how badly you want the extra switches and lights, a front panel also argues against an "invisible" (hidden inside the main box) implementation.

A nearly working pdp11/microvax II thingy in the U.K. ;) but slim details for the rather eye-watering price.
Not too far from me but not really my interest (Especially at £3k!)

This is a nice looking system. But no disks. Even if it had disks it woujld be overpriced. It's apparently a VAXstation so you would want a good large monitor (19" back then?) and the keyboard and mouse which are not cheap these days. If I wanted it, I'd offer maybe $700 but I bet they would laugh.

Check out this seller -- they've got a collection of PDP-8 paper tapes (100?) in various listings:

It "starts to boot" - aka "fails to boot"...

Dave
i have to give him a little credit for not pretending that he is "unable to test", but a system that doesn't boot with a missing bezel is surely not worth even half of what he is asking.
