Hi,
I have this Gateway Destination being shipped to me.
Looking for info on connecting it to a flat screen tv. Curious how to hook up the pc vga and get sound in the tv. I don't see a sound card on the computer. I see it has rca sound out ports but don't know if they will work while in vga mode. I see 2 vga ports 1 blue and 1 black, what is the difference?
I can't find any info or manuals for this computer. Are there any resources online? Would also like to get the wireless keyboard and mouse and recovery software.
Thanks

No idea about new TVs but my old flatscreen has audio in (via headphone jack) that I used ages ago along with VGA in for watching movies.

There are audio jacks above the keyboard port. There are 3 15-pin sockets; the blue should be connected to the VGA monitor port and the other two cabled together. The left most expansion card may be the TV tuner card which is nearly useless now.

I looked at the Internet Archive site but I don't see much in the way of material for the Destination systems under the Gateway banner. You might have more luck. I used to be able to find manuals and updated software for Gateway through IA.

The card with the double VGA ports is most likely some sort of 3dfx Voodoo1 or Voodoo2 card, and its missing its passthrough cable to go to the VGA port on the main video card. You'll need to source this cable (basically a VGA cable with a male connector on one end and a female on the other) if you want to be able to use the card without having to manually switch the VGA cable back and forth from the main video card in the system to the 3dfx card when playing games.

You'll also probably have to move the 3dfx card up a couple of slots to be closer to the primary video card for the cable to reach, the passthrough VGA cable generally isn't long enough to span more than a slot, but there were some cases where they were long enough to span a couple of slots.

I use a VGA to HDMI adapter that also has an audio input to send to the TV.

Thanks for all of the info! I don't see much online about this computer.
Looking forward to getting this system and trying it out.
I found this pass through cable on ebay. It has a 12" cable so it should reach the 2 cards.

Update on the Destination.
I received the computer. It was packed well enough to arrive ok but it appeared to have been damaged in shipping. There was a big dent on the left side rear.
These are built like tanks so that dent had me worried.
Trying to boot it would freeze before being able to enter the bios.

I reseated some of the hardware and got it to boot.

After it loaded the Destination software I got this.

Tried changing video settings but did nothing.
Ctrl Alt Delete - End Task- got rid of it.
Now I want to try it on my flat screen TV.
I needed a VGA to HDMI adapter, so I got this one on ebay. It converts video and audio.

It works now!

I figured out that static screen was the TV starting up in full screen. Changing a setting fixed it.

Looks great! I removed the Destivu software.. takes up a lot of resources and was only good for the Destination remote keyboard and mouse.

Im going to guess thats not a voodoo card, but an dvd mpeg2 card, given the nature of the machine. Most likely one of those HiVal dvd kits, with the pass-through decoder.

That should be a STB Blackmagic Voodoo 2 card, my Destination has two of them in SLI mode.

You are right totally forgot they came with voodoo graphics. I got to use one a few times, with the 32? 35? inch monitor. What a beast! Made my 21" Dell monitor seem so tiny...
