I purchased this some years ago (with its carry case and literature supplied when new) and after removing the layers of case covering goo from it, and cleaning it up generally, it would always start up to the BIOS screen.

I was happy with it getting to this point with the view that one day I would look into it further, but otherwise it was very cool just as it was.

Late last year the machine would no longer get to the BIOS screen and have no text on it (though the screen appears 'to power up'). I stripped down the power supply and noticed it contained 2 x RIFA caps which were breaking down. I replaced these and the power supplies output appears to be where it was when it did work better (15.6v). After doing this small bit of work, the machine still does not get to the BIOS screen.

The machine appears to be very unmolested and I did not want to open it up unless I had too.

Can anyone point me at anything I could check / do to diagnose it further. Having previously been on the Yahoo group I have read the issues with the Dallas chips in these machines. Would I be looking to deal with this component?

Thank you for any guidance you can offer.

Check the bios battery if it has one. First place I would start... If its external (not in clock chip) it prob leaked.
