Hi Everyone

I've found my way here from the Lemon64 forum, probably a better home for me as I have a PET but not a C64 (yet).

My main passion is arcade games and I have a dozen or so from the golden age, but I have also picked up a few computers from the same era (my era) along the way, a TI994A, obligatory Sinclair machines and most recently the PET. Which is in great condition cosmetically, but has issues functionally...

Computers take up a lot less room and are generally less expensive, so this seems to be the way to go.

Time to catch up on years of unread threads, should keep me busy.

Anyway, it'll be nice to meet you all virtually.

Nathan (call me Nige, everyone else does!)

Welcome Nige, from another UK member!

I've got fond memories of the PET. My mum used one in the 80s for working from home, and when she wasn't using it I'd be learning to program it in BASIC. Good luck with getting yours working!

Thanks everyone, I'll be having a read to see if I can find any hints on the fault, just hoping it's not a CBM custom chip

Give us a clue as to what PET it is first.

Most PETs are fixable...

There are no 'custom chips' in a PET, but some the very early 2001 machines have very obsolete parts. However, adapters and 'ROMulators' have been developed for such an eventuality to allow the use of more modern devices.

I've posted a thread in the PET section with a description of the fault and photos, just needs a mod to clear it. I'd assumed there were various custom ICs like in a C64, I'm glad I was wrong!
