Dear Members

I have an RT PC model 6151 what does not work. May I try to fix if I can so I would like to ask some advice.

What is in the box:

CPU BOARD 032
FLOATING POINT BOARD
ADVANCED Color Display Adapter
2x Memeory board 1Mb + 2MB
ESDI adapter (IBM floppy + IBM 0667 ESDI hdd)
4 ports asynchronous adapter
Kayboard + mouse

When I switch on the machine the green led is light up and POST starts but stop at 07 code (red 2 digits led screen) . May I ask some advice how and where can I start the investigation of the problem?

Thanks

I am not familiar with the IBM RT PC 6151.

However, I see that there is technical information on bitsavers.org at [here].

Open the document there named, 'SA23-2604-0_IBM_RT_PC_Problem_Determination_Guide_Jun1988.pdf'.
In that document, section 5 is titled, 'Blinking Two-Digit Display Messages'.
Code 07 is described as:

Maybe your IBM RT PC needs more RAM fitted. That is just a guess. Maybe someone here who is more familiar with the IBM RT PC, will comment.

Hi modem7,

Thanks your answer

Unfortunately I do not have more ram card. Only 2 slots are on the main board for rams. These 2 cards should be enough, but maybe those are faulty. I do not know how and where should measure to check these ram cards. Do you have any suggesstion?

The related stop code 03 that is mentioned in modem7's snippet refers to an issue with the VRM (virtual resource manager) configuration. You should try booting either the RT diagnostic disks or the VRM installation disk. The diagnostics disk images can be found at https://bitsavers.org/bits/IBM/RT/floppy/rt_diagnostics_2.2.1.zip
There are several VRM images around, I do not know which is the best one to use.

Chris
