Hi,

Does anyone have access to documentation for Alston/Innovative Data Technology 8100 SCSI formatter?

I'm trying to revive an Alston/Innovative Date Technology reel-to-reel tape drive, model TD-1053/DC/SCSI, manufactured in June 1995.

It consits of a TD-1053 drive and a IDT 8100 SCSI formatter.

The documentation for the drive is available on Bitsavers (https://bitsavers.org/pdf/innovativeDataTechnology/). I was able to to check the drive and power it up.
After initial checkout I tried connecting the drive to a Pentium III machine with an AHA1542 SCSI controller, and the drive is not detected. I've already did some troubleshooting with SCSI bus termination etc, nothing helped. On the formatter PCB there are many jumpers and switches, but without any description. I'm afraid any further work would need access to the formatter documentation. Bitsavers pdf for TDF4050 formatter is not helpful, this is completelty different device.

Regards,
Marcin Bulandra
