Looking for info on AST Advantage! EXP Series P5

Hello! Recently, I've become very interested in learning more about the early PCs I used while growing up in the 80s and 90s. Unfortunately, the only the remnants I have of these PCs are my memory - I don't have any pictures or other documentation. The PC I'm particularly interested in trying to piece together is my first Pentium. I know it was an AST computer with a Pentium 60 (that had the FDIV bug), and I've been scouring the Internet trying to track down as much information as I can about the motherboard, chipset, etc. for this computer. After a fair bit of searching, I think I've managed to zero in on the most likely candidate for the motherboard: the AST Advantage! EXP Series P5 motherboard.

There are several reasons why I think this is the right board. First, as I mentioned previously, it was a Pentium 60-based machine, and this appears to be one of the few socket 4 motherboards that AST used. Second, I have a very clear memory of upgrading the VRAM at some point, and this seem to be the only socket 4 motherboard I've been able to locate that allows a VRAM upgrade (I've seen references to the Advantage! 6060p motherboard, but that doesn't seem to accept VRAM upgrades). Third, I'm pretty confident that the computer case said Advantage! on it (it appears there was a Bravo motherboard that had a socket 4, but I'm fairly certain we didn't have a Bravo, and also the Bravo motherboard doesn't seem to accept VRAM upgrades).

I'm curious to see if there are any gurus on these forums who can "check my work" and tell me if I've gone totally astray. If my analysis seems to be correct, and I have indeed landed on the correct motherboard, I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who has pictures, documents, or frankly any information about this motherboard - I can really only find (through Google searches) pretty scattershot information about AST Pentium 60 computers, and nothing seems to relate to this motherboard in particular.

Thank you all!

Welcome to the forum @Jonomite.

I assume that you have used The Retro Web to search for your board?

The only person that I am aware of who might know would be David Murray/8 Bit Guy, because he worked at AST during that time period. You might want to reach out to him, if you don't find what you need here.

Thanks for the response! Yes, I've spent many hours looking through The Retro Web, and Stason. In fact, these were the two primary sources I relied on to narrow down the list of motherboards.

I appreciate the suggestion. I've watched a number of his videos and was aware that he worked at AST. I never thought about trying to contact him about this, but I guess it couldn't hurt!
