Hi Everyone,

I am working on a stage production in the Chicago area that calls for a teletypewriter. The play takes place in the late 70's, and ideally the machine would both make some noise and be able to shoot out some paper. It does not have to work completely. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, even what type of model I should be looking for, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Nick

Hi there... It would greatly help (those that can provide suggestions) if you included a little informatoin about the scenario surrounding the scene. I don't know much about teletypewriters, but I assume that different settings (corporate, government, home, etc...) would have a weight on what type of teletypewriter would have been used during the era to fit the scenario.

If all else fails, Google Images is your friend. Just type the word teletypewriter and a year, say, 1976, and you'll get a lot of useful hits that can help with your research in finding the right prop.

Hope the right one makes it your way (and, ultimately, into the play)... Good luck!

In the play the teletype is used by journalists to send and receive news stories. A Model 33 or 35 is what I am ideally looking for, but really anything would be great.

It seems there's one around the bay area...

I sent an email to the seller pointing him/her to this blog. Maybe the connection will be fruitfull.

Keep us posted if you're successful, and maybe send some pictures of the teletype in action during the play/production!

I got this from the craigslist.org email system:

Sorry, the craigslist email address you tried to contact (sale-ugcda-1850526703@craigslist.org) belongs to an ad that is no longer active on the site.
