New Forums nits

How do they look now?
Thanks. Looks good to me now, although that is just an opinion. I just know a lot of people here used intentionally square avatars, and forcing round like that cuts stuff off. Round is ok for pictures of faces, but not not many people here use faces as their avatar.

Looks like there is no way to create a dedicated RSS link for each forum, but you can add an entire forum to your follow list with the "Watch" button at the top right and you can specify how you are notified of changes. Outside of that I am not sure I can offer any other info, I don't know that much about RSS tbh.
OK, it looks like it works to replace the "~" with the forum name:

Looking good so far. But can we please have the "Blogs" section collapsed by default? That list is 10 times as large as the actual sub forums and something I'm not interested in seeing/reading at all. I don't see a way to hide it.

Tim Radde (all one word @gmail.com) has asked me to let you know that he attempted to update his email address, but never received his confirmation email. As a result his access has become read only.

Finally, we get to go back to a forum that actually works.

Haven't had any issues so far except for my profile picture disappearing. For the most part, the mods did a good job on this upgrade.

Merry Christmas

I just sent a test message to Tim. It went through. Mail was not working properly, but I think I fixed it

Ah, thank you. It now works again. It was a real pain not being able to contact anyone on here nor post a message to say I was stuck in
read only mode. Thank you once again. It's good to be here. So much faster than the previous forum. And looks quite nice too.

The hope is that the large message that I left on the front page will get folks over here, when they arrive at the previous version.

We shall see!

The problem is that google searches leading to the old forum are now effectively a dead end, because you don't get forwarded to the corresponding topic on the new forum.

I think this will resolve itself soon though, since I see some google results already pointing to the new forum.

The forum looks very nice with Xenforo, and the user experience is already improved - widgets react faster, and the forum feels faster in general.

Thank you to all the people working on this migration. This time it has been well planned and very well executed. So it has to be said.

Then, why is my avatar missing? I see other users with their avatars... Is that because they already have reconfigured their avatars, or perhaps some avatars did it through the migration process and others didn't?

And finally, in my opinion the "core" of this forum are the "genres" subforums, and therefore those genre subforums should show themselves automatically expanded in the forum's main page:

I think the "genres" subforums being visible by default would help to "hook" passersby and incite their curiosity and help them to decide to join. And we need new blood here.

Looks good!

If you need assistance with permissions give me a shout. It's a different mindset than VBulletin (but the design makes more sense).

If you want the subforums to appear on the main screen, you can do Admin CP -> Appearance -> Style Properties -> Node/forum list -> Sub-forums display style = Listed Below Node.

I think the Rules text could be condensed. I've attached a suggestion. You can also create a sidebar Widget for the rules if you don't want them in your face as a Notice.

Testing to make sure I'm not being moderated. Aaand my avatar has vanished again. I'll see if I can find it somewhere.
Hope you all had a great Christmas.

Fixed avatar...
is there a way to collapse that giant list of blogs? And, can the forum get a unique favicon?
