Information, user manual and Philips DOS diskettes for the Philips P3105 8088 desktop PC.

The manual contains information on how to connect the machine, complete first setup, how to install DOS and Jumper / DIP switch information. The manual is about the 5.25 inch version but is applicable to 3.5 inch versions.

Official PHILIPS floppy disks:

4 x DD 5.25 inch floppy disks with Philips DOS 3.21. System, supplemental, help / gwbasic, tutor.

1x DD 3.5 inch floppy disk with Philips DOS 3.21.01

1x DD 3.5 inch floppy disk with Philips DOS 3.30

1x DD 3.5 DOS TUTORIALS.

The diskettes include:

speed.exe to adjust the CPU speed. (SPEED standard for 8Mhz, SPEED Turbo for 4.77Mhz)

Wdhdinit to low-level format hard drive

PARK to park the hard drive.

Various utilities and diagnostics files to configure the default ATI Graphics Solutions Card. (See manual for more info.)

The P3105 has an onboard IDE connector. But the controller is XT-IDE.
XT IDE is an 8-bit version of normal IDE and is not forward or backward compatible with 16-bit IDE.
Only special 8-bit XT-IDE hard disks work.
These are very rare and do not work with normal IDE controllers. Fortunately, the computer also works with a controller in an ISA slot, allowing MFM, ESDI, SCSI hard drives to work.
The standard hard disk is a miniscribe 8425XT (XT-IDE) and it is known that the heads are stuck or that the engine start circuit is no longer working. Try turning the hard drive at power-on, or turn the lower flywheel by pushing a screwdriver against the edge when power is on. The flywheel is under the circuit board.

Let it run for a few hours and then it will hopefully start itself again. Sometimes it is necessary to turn on and off several times.

Do you have an XT-IDE hard drive and would you like to get rid of it? PM me!

Thanks for that.

Philips is one manufactory I believe a lot of manuals from the past are missing.
