I believe I have found a source for a PDF file of the service manual for the PANASONIC version of these laptops...
Well, actually the 2810 (panasonic CF-270)...
BUT, I know that the design of the IDE connection is VERY similar, particularly when they use the same 2-piece flexible connector.
Edit: Shows what I KNOW!!! The 1800 (more like the 2810 than the 1500) uses a 'multifunction' chip that handles FD,HD, Serial AND Parallel!!! The 1500, on the other hand, has a Western-Digital chip for the FD... and who knows what-else! Fortunately (see newer post(s)), it isnt necessary!
SO... once I can afford to get one, I can continue the repair!
