I've had a kinda maudlin tone in my Blogs of late. It's depressing sometimes to feel your intellect slipping...Today,I am going to put that person behind me and push ahead into the unknown.
MY goal today is the "Tribbles" of Life.Every one of us has had annoying, cute, potentially deadly occurrences in our lives. We exist today, because we overcame(or Out-thought)those annoyances of life.
OK,I'll admit it,I am an old time Star Trek fan. And,yes,I was one of those folks who wrote in to the Network to get the 3rd season and such. That,I feel, gives me the privilege to usurp the term "Tribble".
It's a thing or person that we can't ignore.A problem that NEEDS solving.A glitch that MUST be debugged. In short,a "Universalism".
How we all deal with our "Tribbles" is what defines our outlook and directions in "Life".(Oh...How I wish that Scotty could transport my "Tribbles" to some random Klingon Cruiser!)
Like the TV show,Tribbles can be both a blessing and a curse. How we get through the "Curse" part is the trick,I suppose.
I was trying to do some Brain work yesterday and came upon a problem that would seem to be fairly easy.I have a PIII, HP Laptop with a noisy 8GB HD that should be swapped out for a more quiet and larger one. But,try as I might,I just couldn't figure out how to get to the **!!^^* thing.I refused to Google the answer,so I would have to "Brain" it out.
An hour later,I gave up.Those HP guys had done a masterful job of obscuring the access to the HD.It's under the Keyboard, right enough,but....I just couldn't get it .Maybe tomorrow.A good puzzle always gets a bit easier when you "Sleep" on it.Hence my latest "Tribble".(An annoying one, this time)
I know I will eventually arrive at the answer, time(I think) is on my side.

Heh. I've given up on laptops. I seem only to be able to take them apart- after that nothing fits anymore.

As I am now staring at the pile of screws and boards that used to be a Fujitsu "Teampad",I can only nod in complete agreement.

Tandy did a wonderful job of making the 1100FD a bastard to take apart. To get the floppy drive out, you have to crack the case open, find the two hidden screws under two non-obvious removable bezels, take off the shield, remove the motherboard, remove the other shield, and only then you can take the floppy drive out. I have been able to put it back together multiple times, though. May it RIP, as the drive controller is dead.
