Utility Linux Distribution

Unless you’re sporting a laptop from before 2006 you’re carrying a dongle for serial console anyway.
Only if you deal with vintage routers at the datacenter. All new kit has left the 9-pin-connector serial port far behind, and now the "local console" is done through USB-ports at *both* ends.

But I don't want to convince you otherwise if you think I am wrong. I am probably wrong.

I’ll admit, I haven’t needed to make a colo trip since… 2017 or so? They still had serial ports then, but sure, maybe you just need a cable now…

Wait, this means you still need to carry something. Might wanna carry your power supply and a couple screwdrivers, too. Oh no, this hypothetical backpack is clearly getting completely out of control, gotta replace one dongle with a heavier laptop to get things back to sanity! ;)

Anytime I go to a datacenter, I carry at least two bags with me (full of what-ifs). In my kit I even have a Swiss Army knife (Victorinox brand).
