The Android app makes it easier to use the forums on a cell phone or Android Device. I can fight the Apple battle to get the app listed if there is demand!

An... app? For posting on a forum? I guess that says something about the browsing capabilities of "modern" toy mobile devices and the abilities of this forum software. Does it siphon everything through a third party server? Does it have advertising?

On the flip side, we actually could use something like that to browse from our "vintage" computers again. Just telnet or telnet over serial to some service that does the heavy lifting of processing scripting to format text and accept input for character mode displays.

Nothing against the admins, I guess it's nice that there are options if you want it, but why does every single thing need an app? Isn't a web browser supposed to make that unnecessary for most things?

I use my phones browser to view the vcfed forum on my phone (I use desktop view as mobile view is castrated and terrible). Yeah I dont get the whole "app" thing. eBay is all pestering me to use thier App, but its just a different program that opens a Mobile view, its terrible.

I input is keep the site simple so it can be opened on most browsers, not just the big two.

Trying to view this forum on my phone just doesn't make sense to me. Not enough screen real estate to make it really readable so I have to zoom in most likely to read stuff.
So Nope, no app for me. Then again I am not really a dedicated phone app person. I refuse to put any banking app on my phone. Maybe i am just paranoid, but I just
don't trust that.

Yeah banking on the phone is the norm now. And no big deal. My credit union is 2.5 hours from me so its inconvenient to visit but I can do transfers and deposits on the phone so its fine but thats a whole different argument.

But yeah I use desktop view and zoom in to what I want to read. its fine for me. I dont need anything but a web browser.

It started off as Apple's way to create lock-in to their iPhones as well as a way to force obsolescence. "Don't forget to download our FREE weather/news app! But first, buy a new smart phone! They give us money to say that. We like money."
