So I found a thread on VOGONS that I guess I kind of derailed onto capture cards by mistake - https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=47417 - and of course I had to post the VersaVideo PCMCIA card I bought practically like new in the box with the original manuals and everything.

So a kind soul who apparently has done deeper dives into archive.org than I have, found the actual Windows 95 drivers for this device. Basically, ti's a composite capture card. And in Windows 95, it's a heck of a lot more useful as I can record audio with it along with video, and it does a pretty decent job. Might even do some Let's Plays with it on YouTube.

It records AVI files, which now the tricky part will be figuring out how to get those bloody files OFF the 486 and onto a modern device for editing.....might be time to start snagging them from my phone over FTP methnks.

The NEC Versa M/75 right now is the only laptop setup to work with the card, but eventually I do plan to have it usable on all four machines. What's crazy it there's apparently also a utility for 1990's era Video Conferencing with the technology of your choice (!!!). Maybe it's time I snag a composite camera and break out NetMeeting like it's 1997!
