Victor Vicky price question

Hi there,

as there is a Victor Vicky 9525 on sale in Germany. It's an euro 230V- model with some accessories, please have a look at:

I was already in touch with the seller, she doesn't know if the machine works or not and has no ability to test it. She inherited the machine from her late father and has no clue about it.

As I am searching for an euro - Vicky for quite some time I am wondering what price I could offer her. She currently looks for 500€, which I find a little bit steep for a machine that is literally a black box in terms of working order. I am aware, that this won't be a 'plug&play' even if the machine works.

Any help would be appreciated!

For these rarer machines the price ranges can be quite broad. As with anything, a machine is worth what one person is willing to pay for it. I would make her an offer of an amount you're willing to pay and see how she responds. The audience of those of us who are interested in this machine is small. She'd need to find another Victor enthusiast with 500€ ready to spend. It's a matter of how long she's willing to hold onto the machine. I've made some offers on eBay for some Victor parts that were rejected. 3 years later the parts are still sitting for sale on eBay. Does the seller feel justified in waiting? All depends on how you look at it. I paid £500 for a Vicki in 2022, but I was feeling flush with cash at the time and hadn't seen one for sale in several years.

thanks for your reply! The Vicky is sitting for 1-1/2 years now and no one bought it, although she reduced the price from 1,200€ to now 500€. I think, you're right. I will make her an offer and hope, she's not offended. Another plus point is, that the machine is available in relative proximity (150 miles) and it even has the original carriage bag coming with it.
May I ask if the Vicky you've bought was in working order?

And another one: Did you have a look at the pictures in the ad? I wonder what the big grey cable with the metal connectors is, might this be a parallel cable (Printer?). I remember that my dad's Victor9000 had such a cable as well, there it was for the external 20MB hard drive. And there's also a Mouse, what purpose could have this item on a Vicky, has there been software which it could be used with?

The Vicky I bought is in working order, though the disk drives are in rough shape. The heads are quite dirty and reject most disks, though I've cleaned them several times they are still quite intermittent. The rest of the machine seems fine.

I did look at the pictures. I assumed a serial or parallel cable. I didn't think the Vicki's worked with hard drives. But I'm not familiar with the expansion cards for them. In terms of the mouse, the victor works with a serial mouse. There's a paint program on that old archive that requires one to work.
