Why isn't there an annual Denver show?

There is a HUGE mileage gap between the "Midwest" show (which should actually be called "Central") and the West show. Since many people drive to these shows for obvious reasons (to bring stuff and/or go home with more stuff) I'd like to see an annual show in Denver and wonder why there isn't one already.

I'd also like to see it held it in a very large, high ceiling, well ventilated venue like the most recent Midwest show to avoid the "I caught COVID" problems I've seen mentioned by an amazing percentage of YouTube content producers covering these, one who covered the recent Midwest show NOT getting it this time. And I'd love for it to be a swap meet, too, like the recent Midwest show.

I believe that you just need to "put your money where your mouth is". So go for it!
AFAIK there's no rule anywhere that you can't, and I'm pretty sure that you will get guidance/support from other VCF show organizers.

I'd bet it's down to 2 reasons:
#1: population density. Lot's of people in the existing events to come and make a whole thing out of it. (see attached map)
#2: nobody has started one in Denver yet.

If you wanted to try something like that, may I recommend trying your hand at small community meetups at, say, a local library or other community space? Might be worth it to see who shows up in the local vintage computing crowd. Then you can gauge who might be interested in trying something more serious, because these events are certainly not solo affairs. They take time, money, dedication, and people who want to show up. Running an event is hard, as I'm sure the many show runners can attest to.

that one is from openstreetmap, I believe it's populated from the 2020 US Census. I picked it because it looked the prettiest of all current US population maps, but it illustrates the point that the mount region of the US is rather sparse, all things considered.

Great map. Where did it come from (data source)?

Denver is ***LITERALLY*** an island of population. It was founded by people on the Oregon Trail who took one good look at the Rocky Mountains and said; "Aww hell, nah". (I'm not serious, but i like to say it)

Do I WANT an official VCF? Hell yea! Do I expect it? Hell no.

That said, if I ever hear about any significant meetup in/near Denver, I will 110% be there.

It can't just be about general population density or the Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, NV would not have lasted 40 years and draw about 6000 people. There are other Cowboy gatherings throughout the west, but people come from all over the world to Elko in the dead of winter. So figure that out and you could easily have a VCF in Denver or Fort Collins or Salt Lake City - maybe even Elko :)
