Heh! I waz skimming thru the manual for the Atari SLM 804 Laser printer, and found, on pg. 54, under the heading 'Status Definitions':

A Status Byte is returned following the successful or unsuccessful execution of a command on the selected device

...followed by a table of error codes, including:

0x02 -- Ornery Printer

What'cha gonna do when yer printer iz just plain ornery? How do ya fix that??

IIRC, the Latin word for temper is humorus (from humor: body fluid). Anyone with a bubbly stomach is probably in a bad mood, so you might be correct.

By the way, did anyone try a soothing pain killing cream with acetyl salicyl as a method of CPU cooling? Or when the hard disk coughs on you, look for a lubrication hole and pour some cough medicine.

Tell it to Return 0, or else....

But seriously, have you considered using some lube & canned air? I've taken apart my fair share CD/DVD drives/players, & I've come to realize that moving parts & accumulated dust just don't mix...

let's face it, even without the pun on the word "ornery", as a fault code, it's just funny in itself, in that you wouldn't use it as a word to describe a fault, but it's sometimes just so true.

"cantankerous and awkward" has applied to many printers I have used.

interesting translation possibly?
