Ok, so I'm looking to sell my Tandy 1000 computer system that I've loved since i was a kid, but i have no clue if its worth anything. It is in prime condition, even has a protector for the keyboard and printer.

Here is what I have:

- Computer itself (the one that is a large keyboard with a 5 1/4 drive in the side)
- external 3.5" drive
- Monochrome monitor (monitor is tones of green and will display any programs that list they require up to 256 colors)
- tandy joystick
- daisy wheel printer (i even have the ribbons and all for it)
- all isntructions etc... for the system

I also have a box of software, at least 100 games including most of the old sierra line (King's Quest 1,2,3 -- Police Quest 1,2 -- Manhunt 1,2 etc...)

I figured this forum might be a good place to ask the worth of it all, if any, and the best place to sell it. :D

Hm. Honestly I think the box of software might be worth more than the tandy. If they are boxed (not just disks) I may buy them from ya if you're at all interested in splitting up the two.

The Tandy really varies since there are a bunch of working models out there and they were so widely distributed. It also depends which model you have (there are several 1000's like EX, HX, TX, etc).

One of the members here posted a Tandy 1000 with serial number 8 for $50 on ebay and actually didn't get any hits (I found it and bought it afterwards just because of the low serial but I already have a unit like this like a lot of folks).

But I would say $50 for the hardware is a good guesstimate, maybe $40 for the software depending on if it's just a box of disks or boxed so you may be able to get $100 all together but then it'll cost someone around $45 to ship which is the bad part.

Others will hopefully give you some additional numbers to go by, but you can also go on ebay and do an advanced search for completed auction and see what sold for what price in the last 30 days.

The computer is worth more if you have the memory expansion card and other plus cards installed. Tandy 1000 EX/HX never seem to sell for much on ebay (where I got my HX).

The monochrome monitor is probably not worth shipping charges, most people prefer the color ones (CM-5 or the nicer CM-11).

I would split it up and sell the software seperatly (individualy) on ebay woth a $1 starting price and see where they go. The computer itself should be sold with the manuals and the other parts seperatly (the external 3.5" might get some bids).

How much would you want for the joystick (only thing I am missing)?

The EX has the side-mounted 5.25" floppy. Really, I agree with others, the software is worth more than the computer, which is probably only worth the shipping cost. The memory card, if present may be the most valuable part of the computer. Other cards, such as the serial port, etc are also of some value.

Well let's see here if I can answer all these questions

barythrin: mine has a serial # of 5021. It is an EX. The software is not in original boxes unfortunately, although 95% of the 5 1/4 discs have slip sleeves on them. Let me know if you're interested in a list of what I have, my email is fredkrueger@rogers.com

Unknown_K: my poor monochrome! nobody wants it. The joystick is still in the original box and I didn't use it that much, prefered the keyboard for everything except Thexder and Silpheed. You'd know more what its worth than I would, what would you consider paying for it? My email is above

There seems to be a memory expension card in. The slot in the back has a metal thing in it with a tag that says: Tandy 1000 EX memory expansion board. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. If anyone else wants to weigh-in feel free, I'll check back again.
