Hello there, after seeing the mystery pc with the vertical riser with the 32pin simms on it that someone was after info/a processor for, I remembered seeing a rather battered/missing bitted Everex machine at the dump, I went back today and LO! and BEHOLD! it was there. so I popped out the processor.

If it's worth the shipping to the US (probably about $4 or $5 ) I'll send it.

If you're talking about my post in the vintage hardware help section, yes, I'd be interested.

Was this the same unit as the one in the picture and, if so, did you manage to get the model number off of it?

Thanks

I don't know if it was exactly the same unit, and I didn't get the model number sorry! Most of the case was missing/bent, and it was in an awkward spot, I could just see that it was an Everex.
I would have liked to have teleported you the whole thing as what I could see of the front panel had a really nice yellow led dot-matrix display, but there's an atlantic in the way.
I'll probably be going there again tomorrow or tuesday, but the PCs are usually gone by then, kind of made a "special" trip there today.

I'll pop the chip in some carbon foam & in a little hard box, If you PM me your address etc.

Just found your thread, no-it's not quite the same beastie- memory was mounted sideways.

Thanks NTH,

I appreciate you making the special trip to the dump just to pick the chip for me. I guess chances of you (almost) stumbling over the exact same setup would be pretty slim.

Perhaps someone else will be able to give me a lead on it, but, at least I'll have a loose 386 chip to test MoBos with now.

PM sent.

No sorry, call me a heathen, I was very tempted, but I'll post a picture of my front room sometime, and you'll see why not!
I'm afraid I picked up 2 matching 1940s Televisions and a tiny Apricot monitor on the same trip.
I will look again next time I go.

We have several of those everex machines...but I couldn't identify the card in the picture you posted. We like the little dot matrix display on the front, and I
was disappointed that when the step 486s came out, they lacked the display. I can only imagine it had something to do with the size of hard drives growing exponentially...

Rock solid hardware, though, and generally well made cases. I've still got at least one that is running on its original power supply, even...

For awhile I ran an Everex '486 EISA machine, and several of my friends would make it a point to come by (almost) every day, just to see what st00pit sh!t was scrolling across my computer that day. It's great to have, if ya like having a lot of company...

I picked up one of those Everex cube systems on ebay some time ago. It's an EISA 486, but it had no cards in it, so one day I'll have to put the thing together and try it out. Most of our Everex stuff is the 386 variety, though my partner has a brand new Everex Pentium Core Duo Laptop he's happy with...
