I received everything else I ordered off ebay last month, but it's been ten days since I heard from the guy who I won the Tandy 2820 from. He sent me one cryptic email which had his information that he'd won the money for the auction I paid which was from paypal. So I know he got paid and I know the number for the transaction in which he was paid.

He got ten dollars postage off me... He never wrote to me asking for more money. Would it be possible he bought a really cheap postal plan and I'd be getting the thing a week from now? He didn't reply to my email I sent him a couple days ago asking for a tracking number or which shipping method he used.

This is how ebay normally works: Most of the time, if the product is cheap, the price is really in the shipping..

I got something for like 20 dollars shipping, when the package came, it said 2.94...

Well, I just entered a dispute with paypal over the item. I'm driving myself crazy peeking out the front door to see if it's arrived yet... Good thing I have the last Harry Potter book to keep me company.

That does suck. I do try to avoid buying from folks that don't have enough feedback for me to know if they're ok or not. My biggest trick is to email the guy first and make sure they respond, if not I don't bid since I don't want to be stuck in a no communication contract.

I *have* had stuff take several weeks though although it's been rare. In fact my last auction was from Canada (I wasn't too sure about that one in general since across borders are harder to get authorities to do anything about) however that item arrived WAY faster than anything from the states lol. I think he shipped it Tuesday and it was on my porch Friday.

I guess I should say most of the packages that took a long time the seller still communicated with me. Lost communication is usually bad though. One of my very first ebay purchases was an Amiga 2000 and 3000 lot with *LOTS* of software, magazines, books, etc. I paid the shipping cost that they dude gave me which was fine (can't remember how much but it was steep). 13 boxes came to my house all Amiga software, backup tapes, several thousand disks, even a COLOR camcorder lol (for digitizing). The last 2 boxes he said were really big and was going to have to repack them into 3. I never heard from him again and never received my last 3 boxes. Now.. I think I left neutral feedback since I'm *guessing* he ended up spending more on shipping than he may have made from the auction towards the end. I always wonder what awesomeness was in the last 3 boxes but whatever. Hopefully they were more QIC tapes and magazines and things I didn't want.

(sorry didn't mean to rant).

Now, I've actually gone and put a dispute with Paypal against this guy. An item y'all said (1)might not even work and (2) might not even come with a power supply. Why (1)? Because possible battery drippage upon the motherboard.

Y'know, the other day I saw DHL deliver to my nieghbors in the new house across the street. 81 M* Lane. I'm at 82 M* Lane. I just sat there and figured I sure as heck hope I didn't have to go over there and be a nosy neighbor and ask if they'd gotten my package by some mistake. ...

I felt bad about disputing such a silly claim... but now the suspense of what happened to that stupid laptop is getting me rather annoyed towards other people because that's somewhere near the top of my mind... just hovering there... The "fish" that might have gotten away.

If it's like $30 or $40, most the time I just delete it from my "won" listing, and forget about it. I have paid large sums for stuff that didn't work, I have also paid small sums for stuff that works perfect. As far as a "score" goes, I am way behind on the win column.

Finally got an answer...

My sincere apologies on this item, I've just returned from vacation to find that my 16 year old did not complete his assignments, one of which was shipping out all of the ebay items.
It will leave on Weds. 8/1 from Wayne, NJ and I will prioritize the shipping on me.

Ok, two questions for the seller:

A: Why would you leave your 16 year old kid home (presumably without supervision, or the task would have most likely been completed) while you go on vacation?

B: Why would you expect any 16 year old to complete a task that requires some amount of forethought without adult supervision?

I'm sure a lot of 16 year olds would be attentive to shipping items as asked. I probably would've when I was in that age. I suppose several of the younger members on this forum would too. I'm not sure about staying home alone, but the one who came to look after him perhaps didn't know about the task(s) given.

In any case, I hope things settle and you can withdraw your dispute. Good that you didn't resort to the red feedback option just yet.

yay!!!!!!!!!!!! It finally arrived. Today is Monday. :D It even came with a working power plug thingie which you plug a regulair computer power plug into. So I'll have to use it where there's a surge protector or get a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter... I can't wait to buy a nice leather case for it. :D
