TH99 isn't perfect.

Many times, TH99 is great for finding Jumper settigns for a card you have. Other times, TH doesn't give you the answers you expect.

My problem is that I got a Trident TVGA card (chipset 8800CS), and I find the information about it on TH99 extreme incompleete.

1: It got three jumpers and a block of 6 dip-swiches. TH99 does only tell you there is 2 jumpers.
2: TH doesn't tell anything if it support MDA or CGA. it only tells that if you change 4 of the swiches, including one jumper, you will change between either TTL or analog mode. It doesn't tell what TTL mode, or anything like that.

If anyone got any more information about this card, I would gladly like to know it.
 
I think there were MANY versions of these cards. Some very vaguly marked. How about a picture of the card and any markings on it?
 
This http://visualflex.net/gigagon/8800cs.gif is about exactly how it looks, but my card haven't got that fancy stickets on the BOOT Roms.

It seems that J1 is moved a little, and that J3 is missing.

I figured that J3 is for allowing signal going to the "IRQ 1" pin on the ISA bus (maybe "absolute" IRQ 2)

I wanna say it's a rip of a tech cd of some sort, similar to the MicroHouse cdrom. Heck, maybe it's even part of the MicroHouse cdrom.

Anyway, it seems you can never find the wretched thing when you need it, so the last time I found a reasonably reliable siite that was hosting it in html-format, I mirrored the whole thing down to my pc. It takes up about 614 MByte, uncompressed, but it sure beats chasing down links that seem to vanish like snow in the sun (unless you're up north, that is)

It will do VGA graphics on a VGA mono monitor. An old school digital mono monitor will probably not display anything if the card is configured for VGA.

I was more thinking of "what will it do on a TTL Mono monitor" (in the best cause, CGA and Hercules). I see SW3, SW4, and SW6 aren't commented or changed under any of the settings. Might this be some additional functions not written about on the TH99 page?

So does this happen to be that very combo EGA / VGA card I sent you a while back ? :)

I was pretty surprised. Unformally, not too many peoples use both antistatic bags and antistatic bubblewrap/airbags. In most causes, an antiatatic bag and some normal bubblewrap will go, but if the antistatic bag is omitted, then I won't guarantee that the item will be working after shippment.

Yeah, We've been trained about ESD safety at work so I packed the card in some packaging normally being used to send out chip samples and developement kits.

I'm starting to like this card. Remember that TTL to Analog thread I started earlier this year? This card does just that. However, it doen't do doubblesync, so it tries to output the TTL sync rates to a VGA monitor if you set it for TTL with J1 set to pin 2&3.

The nice thing is that my brother's LCD monitor does mannage to display the image at those sync rates, however, with an annoying square in the right upper corner saying "Signal Error". The picture might also go a little outside the canvases of the monitor.
