i got it from a guy on freecycle.. it's ANCIENT!! mfg. in June 1980. supposed to be CGA?? i connected it to my tandy 1000tx and got nothing. i might try my XT clone with a herc card. here's a pic. it says "character display" on the front, under the NEC logo.

EDIT: update.. i get nothing on the herc card either, but it turns on... the power light works. this is strange... it has a VOLUME CONTROL??? lol wut? it's got the 9-pin type plug on it, but only 6 pins are on it. they're not broken off it looks like that's just how it was made.

anybody know anything about it?

after doing a little research, i think is supposed to work with a NEC PC-8000 series machine.

d'oh i can't use this monitor at all can i?

my apologies for putting this in the PC's section, i thought it was for PC's at first.

Don't apologise Mike, I did exactly the same as you.

I have one of these sitting up in my Garage in the "not-sure-what-to-do-with-it" pile. When I started collecting micros I got this thinking it was a cga-type monitor.

Yes, as far as I can make out it belongs to the NEC PC-8000 series. Classic computers in their own right, but you can't do much with just a screen :)

I'm not even sure if it works. I can't see a raster. It just seems dead. I should really toss it.

when i first turn mine on there's a bit of fuzz on the screen then it goes away right away, so the tube displays stuff i think. :)

i'm asking the guy if he has the machine it came with, maybe i'll get lucky and score a free PC-8000?? LOL... i can hope.
