Not sure if anyone else has seen this one (or if it's been posted already), but I just saw this listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-PC-XT-5160-...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50

Hopefully it will find a good home with someone that will keep it in such shape. I'd bid on it but 1) I'm limiting my collection to portable/handhelds/all-in-one units (limited space as of late)... and 2) I have a feeling that auction will go a little crazy towards the last few days/hours.

Wow, amazing what good condition the box is in too! Whoever
buys that it would really be worth having it double boxed.

The bids are still at 0 and I'm beginning to develop a twitch on my neck...

My vintage budget for February is all used up... I must not bid on this...

Here, let me help. <<It's big and heavy, where would I put it?>> <<Man, look at that shipping cost! What a killer!>> <<Stupid 20MB hard drive will probably arrive as toast.>>

There -- any better?

Where were you when I bought that Model 95 across the country a couple of years ago? I need a conscience as effective as your words...

Better off picking up a computer locally than to risk shipping something that big and ugly.

I know, right?

Keep 'em coming, guys! The more words of discouragement, the better!

The US Postal Service has a tendency to throw boxes and drop them, oops that damn Monitor and HD....

If anyone here buys that system, make sure you ask the seller to
double box. I bought an XT from a guy on eBay a few years ago
and I didn't realize he still had the original box. It showed up at
my house in the original box, which was totally abused by the USPS.
Still kind of nice to have though :)

Also, the heads will DEFINITELY need to be parked. The XT I got
worked fine before the guy shipped it, but the HD was damaged
during shipment.

I am not looking forward to that score on those 2 XTs I purchased from that AJ Storm person. As you no doubt read, he never could get a clean boot up. Can't park the heads if you can't run the program.

Sigh, we will see. They haven't arrived here yet. I am already braced for "Can't format track 0, invalid media".

How about we take bets on the winning bid?

I say $150 (not counting shipping). If it had an EGA card and a 5154, I'd say double that, if not triple.

I remember buying EGA back when it came out, man I paid alot of money for the card and monitor, easily a grand or so.

Just checked on the outcome of the auction... I was off by a long shot on my estimate... It went for $520 (plus shipping).

More than I expected it to get, I was thinking $350, I bidded $200 just incase the depression hit Vintage street..which it didn't :>

The seller must be stoked... Hopefully it wasn't a troll account that won it. ;)

5 years ago, when I was on a roll buying stuff, I would've gladly paid $300 for it. $520 if it came with an IBM EGA card and 5154 monitor.
