Greetings to all, I'm a console collector primarily, but
I dabble in MSX and old IBM machines.

I own two IBM 8086 machines and about a dozen MSX machines.

Welcome. A dozen MSX computers sounds like an impressive collection, in particular for someone living in the USA where it never took off as much as it did elsewhere.

Yes, very cool. I can never find MSX gear over here and have always wondered what hype I missed. I need to look around, I may have some MSX cartridge I could put in the marketplace, just no clue what it's for.

Welcome to the board. What consoles do you have or collect?

I have too many consoles, I have hundreds of them.
I collect mostly prototypes and unreleased hardware.

My favorite would be PC engine, followed by Playstation.
Recently I have been collecting oddities for PSX like the
floppy drives and 56k modem for it. I don't go for the big money
"me too" retail items, I prefer to go for historically important
items like art and similar.

I'm thinning out my collection, it's sort of gotten out of control.
I've had a desire to get a working 8086 system again, so I am looking
for parts to max out my old IBMS.

I collect arcade boards too, that's another thing I am trying to reduce.

The discussions here seems quite good, so here I am.

The MSX is a very rich gaming experience, it's a notch above NES in my
opinion, and the games have the depth lacking in most NES games.
Many games for NES have richer, fuller versions on MSX, like Metal Gear.

:-D

Hi and welcome.

The nearest thing I have to an MSX machine is a Spectravideo 318 which was heralded at the time as a "near" MXS machine.

AHM (of this board) knows a lot about MSX.

Welcome. I am a huge game person too, but I don't really talk about that here too much, mostly computer repair stuff.

I would be interested in trading for a Sony MSX ... if you have a wishlist, maybe I have something of interest to you.

Hi, newb. I see you're in New York. So come join (it's free) the * local * vintage computing group. We're called MARCH - Mid-Atlantic Retro Computing Hobbyists. Our members are spread out from Hartford to Pittsburgh to D.C. and everywhere between. Our list is at http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/midatlanticretro ... we've also got a bricks-and-mortar computer museum in NJ .... events include a party / swapmeet next weekend and the VCF East in September.

Welcome! I've never heard of MSX, and thusly I think I'll look it up on Google later. I was born in 1992, and so it's pretty understandable. Hell, I played a real Atari for the first time this year (well, a flashback system 2 years ago, but c'mon).

Can't wait to learn more about these console oddities. I'm amazed you've come across so many!
