I am so glad someone provides this sort of forum.

also, just a suggestion. maybe you could include a little paypal donation button? I would send along a small (!) amount for your services.

You're welcome (from me and the rest of the volunteers) and thanks for your offer!

At the moment the Google Ads are covering enough of the expenses that I don't feel the need to bug people any further.

Hopefully that continues to be the case. :)

Thanks as Well!!!

Thanks as Well!!!

:D I have had such a good time here and expanded my knowledge a bunch!I feel my 8086 brain has at last evolved to the 80286 version.
I consider my time here to be well spent. My slow recovery is much more bearable than it would have been otherwise.

Hi Erik,

I normally use the Firefox extension 'AdBlock Plus'. I wasn't even aware this site had ads.

As a symbolic gesture, I've now disabled that extensions features for this site.

The ads aren't really targetted at our regulars here - they're mostly for folks browsing through.

I expect most of us don't even notice them after a short while.

The ads are very understated. I click on them a couple times a week and browse the sponsors site, regardless of how dry it is :D Gotta keep the hamster on the wheel you know

What's funny is that many of the ads are for companies specializing in computer recycling and computer disposal - quite the opposite of this board's raison d'être ;)

Perhaps you can contact those companies with wish lists to buy complete systems off their hands if they would come across some? In a cynical world where only money counts, I'm sure some of the recycling companies wouldn't mind bystepping the strict recycling process and instead resell some (perhaps w/o hard drives) gems. There is/was a member on this forum who worked at a recycling station and seems to have picked up quite a few items, supposedly with his manager's consent.

Funny you should mention that. I was just in touch with someone who was planning to send two fully loaded working Amiga 500 systems, with monitors, printers, external drives, etc to recycling. Instead I'm going to go pick them up this weekend.
