Hi,

I have a friend who uses an IBM PS/1 2133-23C (sl-b) for high speed morse code. He would like to replace his current monitor with an lcd to save space.
I haven't looked at the computer as yet.
Is the video output on the computer vga? Can the monitor simply plug into the vga connector (if it exists)? Is an adapter needed? If a new video card is required, does anyone have a source? Are new software drivers needed and if so where can they be obtained?
Thanks for your help.

Mike

Thanks for the info.
I tried a 15" dell monitor last night - seemed to work just fine!

I kinda figured it was a spam post. Guess I'll wait a few before hittin that trigger though.

There is a caviat, with these machines, though. I tried to use a BenQ LCD with my PS/1 Consultant and found that it had more pins than the connector on the box had holes. It seems it uses some early form of VGA, so you have to get the right type of cable (luckily most LCDs have these separate, so you can swap them out) - just something to keep in mind if you find the plug won't fit. :p

If you use an LCD with the older IBM PS/2 Machines, you MIGHT need to use an older VGA cable with the present day VGA cables that have 15 pins present...or you could maybe modify one to fit by pulling pins, though I have not tried that idea yet.
