iPad

What was the last product that Apple released that was a failure in the marketplace?
All I can remember is the G4 Cube. After that, a lot of sales was fuelled by the momentum of the fan base.

Edit: Actually didn't the Apple TV never really take off?

Not sure. Apple never really had me as a fan until my very late collecting of a IIe. Then after seeing how hacker friendly it was I could accept it as a cool machine, however they of course lost that with the IIc, then the crapintosh. Just to pour a little gas on the fire (this pissed me off so much) my girlfriend has an ipod touch (at least we got it used). A day or two after the ipad release (from what I understand) a few of her applications and games that previously worked now stated that they require some 3.0 firmware to run. Ok, not that bad.. whatever.. upgrade firmware right? Nope, firmware 3.0 $5.00 at the apple store. Seriously?! Can a company legally cripple a device and order money to fix it? I thought only malware did that. Anyway, I'm definitely not a fan of this guerrilla marketing strategy.

Er.. ok sorry for the rant. Did anyone who was alive (and coherent) at the time recall or know any real personalities of Woz or Jobs? Hollywood has be under the impression Woz of course was the brilliant hacker who made the stuff I like, and Jobs was the marketer who yaps and has $ for eyes in his emoticons. Interestingly I saw what was supposed to be Woz's myspace page years ago (I was bored). He had a comment from "Steve Jobs" on his page saying something about how come they weren't friends and he just missed him at some conference. Woz replied something kind of smart assed and I wasn't sure if it was him (logically) not believing it was really Jobs or if they weren't friends for a public reason and he was questioning why they would be.

The Mac TV, essentially a crippled Performa All in One with a TV tuner, was a big flop (but is now quite rare and valuable).

Apple's previous tablet experiment also flopped. Although not flops, some of the early PPC All in Ones were pretty bad for an assortment of reasons (basically cost cutting). I can't think of any others though.
