System 7.5.x disks on Apple's site

Has anyone had luck reconstructing this archive from Apple's site? Last I tried it (with OS X's disk utility) it complained that the archive was corrupt.
 
I managed to rebuild the system 7.5.3 installer and 7.5.5 updater from their site no problem, even though in one case it did complain about corruption.
I dumped both the installer and the updater to a zip disk with a blessed 7.5.3 system folder.
 
I downloaded them all to..wait, what?
I managed to stitch them together on my 8600 while running OS8. They key is downloading the files as cleanly as possible. Don't move them across platforms.
 
I figured that might be the case. I think the archives aren't compatible with the Disk Utility in OS X... only the classic environment.

Can you make floppies from this disk or do you need a CD Rom to install?
 
The CD includes AppleScripts to make floppies of each of the disk images on there. You'll need at least 1 Mac with a CD-ROM and floppy drive to do this with. Boot from the CD-ROM, find the correct software, then run the Make Floppies script.
 
Thanks for the link. Are the images in Basilisk II friendly format? I've got the emulator coming up to the Floppy disk image with the X through the disk, so it must not like something. I've tried the 800k and 1440k disk images and it doesn't seem to like either one.
 
Try using Basilisk to boot directly from the CD. You can try seeing if Basilisk will read the .ISO, or burn it to a CD first and boot from the physical media.

If I were you, I would create a new HDD image to install the system software on, boot from the CD or ISO, then install the software from the CD onto the HDD image. Remember, you'll need a Macintosh ROM for Basilisk to work.
 
I finally got around to trying to boot from the CD itself. That did the trick, thanks! I've got Mac OS 8.1 installed on a hard disk file and it's working. It's a little slow with the video updates (relative to UAE running 68040 emulation too). I'm using a Quadra 650 ROM and 12 MB of emulated memory. I may have to play around with some of the timing settings I'm guessing.
