If anyone has an original or functioning copy of the necessary DOS for the Apple iie, I appreciate arranging a way to obtain and reimburse for the effort. I've got the machine up and ready to go but for the DOS. Much appreciated. RS413@aol.com

You can use ADTPro to boot your machine from the "bare metal" - without an operating system. You simply connect it to a modern machine, and use the software to transfer over the OS, etc, and then once you have it in memory, you can format blank disks, make them bootable, and transfer over other disks of software, etc.

Hopefully you have a Super Serial Card in that IIe - it makes this a *very* simple procedure. And, once you've got it communicating with the PC, you can download software in .DSK format, and write it out to Apple disks really easily.

Can I use the line out from my new PC to transfer data, files, programs, boot disks etc. to the Apple lle using ADTpro? Also will I be able to save back onto my PC usint the same type of cable when I am done? I know I'll probably need some sort of splitter to make the connections. That would be one way of "networking" the lle to my PC I guess...

Also, where can I buy single sided 5 1/4" floppies for my lle?

Please see the answers I and others have provided in your other threads - it's all in the same place:

While it's tecnically possible to use the cassete port on to run ADT... I wouldn't bother. Just use the serial card - it's *so* much faster and much more reliable. If you don't have a Super Serial Card, get one. They're extremely common and insanely useful. And using it to bootstrap with ADTPro is fall over easy.

Once you get the machine booted, you can use the IIe as an intelligent terminal on your PC (assuming *nix system, dunno how you'd do it on Windows) Just add the line in /etc/inittab to use the serial terminal, then init q to reread the file. Then you can log into the PC, use Kermit to upload and download files, and do stuff online with all the usual text based programs.
