Hi
So while cleaning the basement I came across my old Datatrain DPC-1000, its a PC/XT 8088 at the blazing speed of 4Mhz. Wouldn't you know it the battery had corroded and destroyed some traces around the Battery circuit, but after soldering in a new battery and a couple of new resisters/diodes the PC posted with only one beep (Good).
(not pretty)
After assembling the PC I added in the EGA Wonder800 card and my WD MFM controller.
But here is where I have run into some trouble... I have the original documentation (hee hee) and set the proper jumpers on the EGA card but it is only outputting these horizontal lines... now this is NOT a new behavior for this PC as when my parents purchased the PC for me in 1988 it had the same issue. I vaguely remember it taking me months to get it working (I was only 13 at the time ) and I was not really sure what I was doing. Here is what the screen looks like.
If anyone can offer any suggestions I would appreciate it, I do not have access to other 8-bit graphics cards or TTL monitors, but I am trying to hack together a cable to hook into my old NEC Multisync.
This is the machine that began my love of computers and I am looking forward to getting it in running condition again (after this one comes the WANG mini I got from C.F.B. Nanaimo when they closed the base)... Thanks for any help!!!
