Placed an order for a pretty large mix of parts. 35 line items, lots of leaded parts, most line items quantity 1, a few quantity 20-50. ICs, caps, resistors, sockets, etc. Nothing on tape/reel. All loose kit. Over 200 pieces in total. Paid for it at 8:46pm. Got an email saying it was picked, packed, and shipped along with a tracking number at 9:33pm. FedEx site updated with origin scan at 9:49pm. Good lordy they are fast!
 
Yes, that's fast! But i'm affraid that they ARE too pricey. At least for me. I tried to buy an Atmel EEPROM (i'll try to build the XTIDE card) but i got a quote of USD 100.00 for shipping. I asked for a confirmation and they said they have a flat rate for shipping to Chile.
JAMECO is a little more expensive but for service, they are great. They even called me on the phone since they thought that S&H would be too expensive for a small order like the one i had placed.
I know Chile is as far as it can get from Europe but for that kind of shipping i get almost free rates even from China.
Just my $.02.

prioritary shipping to south america is REALLY EXPENSIVE, I'm from Brasil, and I know how this works, if you need it fast, then forget it, or sell a leg to afford the fast shipping. Ask for a slower shipping method, usually works. The shipping from China is cheap because the slave workers, and also the goverment helps a lite with the fees, China wants to export a lot, to win the market.
