I would like some help identifying this 30-pin SIMM memory module. It is intended to work in a 486-type computer, but I would like to know the memory capacity of this module.
The module has two chips, and on each chip it is written: "NEC Japan D424400GS-70L-9KD 9345M9209".
Another great way of determining the size of single RAM chips is to count the number of pins. 4 sets of 5 pins is typically* 1Mx4, while 4 sets of 6 pins is more or less always 4Mx4.
(* it can also be 4Mx1, 1Mx1, 256Kx4 or 256Kx1 but you can often see by the IC configuration or chip-ID what's the case. On many 30-pin and problably almost all 72-pin SIMM modules it's 1Mx4.)
Thanks a lot to everyone for the tips, it's been of great help.
It seems 4 MB modules of type 30-pin SIMM are commanding quite high prices in the second hand market: this eBay.de auction for 4 modules of 4MB each, is currently at 21.50 Euros, with still one day left to go!
