I remember using a few Softkey products, 8 in 1 etc, back in the late '80s early '90s and there was MSs' Works suites. What others were there?

I can't remember what the suite was but when I was in the Services one of the tech records guys off his own back created a complete parts database for a few aircraft types. Done purely because most stuff was still in micro-fiche format proving the suite was quite useable for more than just home use and of course data could be transferred quite simply between each suite application.

I still believe "Works" suites were quite underated in general.

OT: Of course my favourate was the PC/Geos series.

The 286 I bought back in 1987 came with ZenWorks. No, not the modern management toolkit but the worst integrated package I have ever had the misfortune to see. It didn't even manage to be mediocre at anything.

Lotus Symphony and Ashton Tate's Framework were the other major DOS players after PFS and MS Works. Plus probably dozens of lesser packages.

Back in the late 80's, we used Enable 2.0 (which IIRC included a word processor along with a database and spreadsheet) in a USAF office I worked in.
