This week (or maybe last week, I don't remember) announcements show at the top whenever I am in a sub-forum. And those announcements still shows after I have read them. Is there a way to "hide" them from the top of the web page when I am in a sub-forum?
Why do I want to do this? Because the announcements "steal" precious screen estate so fewer threads shows up on my screen.
(If I want to read them again, I can just read them in the announcements sub-forum)

Is there a way to turn them off? I've read them all, that was many months ago :), and they're still there and still annoying.

The short answer is "no."

The announcement for the VCF will go away in less than a month but it will be replaced by another for the VCF MidWest.

The other two are what I consider to be important information for all users and while the seasoned folks have seen them, new folks (who arrive every day) have not and I don't have the ability to "hide when read."

I'll take a look to see if I can merge the two forum related announcements - "how to deal with the mods" and "guidelines." The sponsored events ones will come and go.

Hopefully y'all can find a way to get past the annoyance of having them up there and move on to the pleasure of geeking out with your vintage (computing) friends. ;)

I've never noticed the announcements, but then again I mainly browse "What's New" and right-click directly to the latest post of the threads I want to read. Only once in a while I go from the index to a subsection, in that case to post a new thread.

Erik, thanks for providing the answer.
And yes, we'll manage to get on wih the vintage stuff. :)
