Vector Graphic Vintage desktop microcomputer on craigslist

Yeah, I was about to agree as well that I'd pick it up if it was in Richmond.
Then I realized that Richmond BC does not have a craigslist.

That is awesome. The seller may be looking for a real collector so it may not be a quick sell.. but per the page it says $25 which is ridiculous bargain for a system of that age and condition. Where are all ya VA folks?! ;-) With the floppy and delicacy it probably isn't overly feasible to ship but even then if he wouldn't someone could potentially relay it.

Wow, that is just awesome!

If I had the space, I'd go after that thing. Double the size of my collection... ;)

It even runs CP/M. If anyone here gets it, let us know, and PLEASE post some pics!

I live on Amelia Island, just found you guys here, hoping to resurrect my old S-100 intentions, found this post, first thing. I already have a message in to say that I'll take it. I have a friend in the area that can look at it for me.

A long time away, in (a) space far, far ago, I had most of a Compupro S-100 collected, Jerry Pournelle was a major infuence on my thinking then and now, but reality reared its ugly head, I stupidly sold it to some lucky person before it ever awakened.

I may yet find a good box chassis type, like my old one, and this could go to some other collector or comp-sci department. But for now it looks like a winner to keep!

Hi, and welcome to the Forum.

I'm glad to see another vintage computer getting saved from the dumpster by someone who cares!

Well, RATS! :(

I caught the listing still up, but someone else has already spoken for it. The only hope is that the deal falls through. I hope that happens! (No ill will meant toward that purchaser, just hoping he changes his mind.)

Funny how easily one can get psyched up for something like that computer, it can't hold a candle to a phone these days. I was going to put it in my friend's PC repair shop, where I was hoping to start an O.C. club. Wonder what that old Z-80 can do all revved up. Don't worry, just kidding, it would be run, but only in its, (stock), comfort zone - performance wise.

OK,

That one got away, but I have bought a Q&T, (In a week or two, I'll know what that means...), from a collecting/trading enthusiast just up the coast from me. I thought about getting a case and building from scratch but I get two 8" floppies, and can begin the learning/restoration process as soon as I can find a budget Z80 or whatever CPU board.

So, if anyone hears a rumor about any CPU board that might work coming up toward being available, let me know.

I may start a project thread if it looks like there could be life in the old beast fairly soon. I have no idea yet, Q&T may be a blemish or decent footnote in the S-100 history, I'm just starting my trek, I have to get on all the forums, ask around, I already know there is a "shortage" of docs and manuals for it.

They guy made no promises, it is just an untested piece he collected. If I had two grand I'd get a running hot rod, but that is not a good course according to the domestic finance steering committee. :)

Hi USASAgencyman,

Welcome to the VC Forum!

I have been "watching" that auction for months! For a chassis, power supply motherboard, 2 8 inch drives, a disk controller board and a Compupro RAM 17, I believe you got a very good buy, and you will have a good base for your project. I will be very interested to follow your efforts.

I'll be looking forward to hearing more.

This will be truly interesting! I called the seller this morning, because I had not found any 8" media listed FS anywhere, and was only going to plant an idea in his head to keep me in mind if he found any. Well, he had a box of new, and a small pile of used floppies! Umm, yeah, they will be coming along with the machine!

Now if I can just find one of my myriad contemporary "old f*r*s with a good CPU board, hiding, almost forgotten, in the back of his closet...

This will be my most ambitious tech project in many decades; I build high performance server/worksta type machines, and

My company was one of the last Compupro Dealers when they went out of business. I have some new and used Compupro Z-80, 8085/8088 dual processor, 8086, and 286 processor boards instock and ready for sale. All are working, include an Original Compupro Technical Manual, and a Six Month Warranty. I also have just about every other Compupro board for sale some factory new, and some used, as well as software, disk drives, system and disk enclosures, and I do service work on all. PM me, or phone 909-820-9850.

I hate I missed it, (O.P. of thread), especially since it looks like it's back on the market in a store at a price, (may I say -UUHHHHPPPP!!!) I cannot possibly consider, though it may just be one like it, can't remember the details and original listing is down.

So, I'll keep working on my Q&T, a sleeper that will probably become a stealth CompuPro in a funny cover. :0 :)
