I recently had to do an operation on my Model 4P dusting the insides, and when I powered it on again, the brightness control didn't work it didn't display any text, and the fan wasn't running. The floppy disk still lights up, and I think I can hear the processor running (I can't tell the two sounds apart)
These computers are getting really rare and expensive, what's wrong with it?
Here is a video of it http://youtu.be/r0cZhLV1SGw

Yep... think you'll find that the front panel connectors at the front edge of the board came loose...
... and while youre back in there, make sure the FD /fd power cable isnt keeping the fan from turning.

EASY to do!

:D

It may seem like an easy operation in theory, but Tandy computers are filled with nasty surprises and way too may screws.

It's a portable luggable computer designed for a potentially rough life on the road. It has just the right amount of screws.

Those wires to the front controls (contrast/brightness/power/reset) are easy to dislodge, and where you will find your problem.

Ian.
