hi! i need some help to find how much RAM this Mach64 VT2 card have on board...there are 2 non-removable chips, and 2 others that are removable.

2MB

The first two chips are labelled 1M
The top two additional chips are labelled 2M

You'll find out when you install it anyway.

At a glance, I would say 2Mb. Only because I used to work at a place where we put Mach 64's into systems we built. They typically came with 1Mb soldered on like that with sockets for another 1Mb if you wanted to add to it. In an era of 15" monitors and 2D output, the second Mb was usually wasted anyway...

It wasn't wasted at all. In fact, the card was pretty badly crippled without it. With 1MB, the card only uses a 32-bit memory bus, whereas 2MB brings it up to the full 64-bit path that the chipset is capable of... and that made quite a bit of difference in speed.

hmm so...then what would be better to use on my P200MMX setup with a Voodoo 2 8mb on it?

This ATI Mach64 VT2 card? or a Cirrus Logic CL-GD5446BV-HC-B? it seem to have 2mb as well, the removable banks are filled.

anyone know? Will the Mach64 VT2 be more performant than the Cirrus Logic card? the Mach64 VT2 card is a bit larger than the Cirrus Logic card.

size matters, bigger is better. (yes, I am kidding. no, I am not selling ... 'male enhancement supplement')
I am incline to think that most "brand name" VGA chips (ATi/S3/Tseng/nVidia/MGA) will run circles around Cirrus Logic.
Though I don't particularly like ATi products from DOS era because most software titles I ran during that period always seem to have an "ATi version" and "Everything Else" which leads me to think ATi had the weirdest oddball incompatible chip architecture...

i'm a bit confused...are you saying that i should continue using the Cirrus Logic 2mb with the Voodoo 2 8mb i have here for compatibility purpose and it would be better overall?
