Not working and battery cover missing makes the price high single digits, I'd say. If it doesn't work, hobbyists don't want it. If it's not cosmetically flawless, no museum ambitions either.

Indeed, the II's are much less rare. I really like mine - intriguing evolutionary step in handheld computers etc. But it is the ultimate 'what on earth shall I do with it' object... In that respect, maybe the fact that this eBay one is broken has no large impact on its value. Still, GBP200 is silly!

I guess I haven't really noticed that most are IIs. I'm not that familiar with the differences in the models (but interesting thing to learn). They've caught my eye a few times but mostly because the IIs tend to sell for near nothing ($20-30?). I certainly don't think $200 is a good price though regardless of the rarity. PDAs are cool and I think an interesting collectible area but it hasn't taken off that I've seen (other than linux PDAs) so prices in general are still usually cheap.
