My 486 on the internet

Anybody want to make a vintage web browser that makes websites think you are using a lower resource mobile device (less flash and pictures, lower resolution so old machines don't choke)?

Wikipedia you can go to m.wikipedia.org and it helps load times but it is uglier.
Default

Try my web site: http://www.amstereo.org

It was designed to be perfectly usable on Netscape 3.0, so it should work well on older computers and browsers.
AM stereo. That is a technology that didn't catch on :(

I will give it a try next time I turn the machine on.
Really amazing how snappy the google pages are on it

I tried an old version of netscape and it was almost unusable. Opera 3.6 is the most usable 3.1 browser

That would be great for windows 95/98. Both my P75 and P200 MMX choke on the internet nowdays.

Hi guys, Myself and Tenox will be working on a new project called Vintage PC Gateway which will incorporate some neat features such as a browser proxy for old machines and a SLIP gateway.
In the meantime Tenox has written a great Python based web proxy that renders web pages as a graphic with a pixmap for clickable links. It works awesome. Right now it only runs on MacOSX as the proxy server since it depends on some mac only libraries but Tenox will be porting it to QT libraries so we can incorporate it into the Vintage PC Gateway (which will be a Linux based system).
Check it out here:

Enjoy!

Probably using IE. I've got a P200mmx running RH 7.3 with Orera 8 which seems to do ok.

That project sounds great Alex. Look forward to giving it a shot at some stage.
