Wow, this is another cool designed terminal. It was the first terminal designed by DEC. I parted with my VT100 (which was in great condition) mainly because it was so ugly.

Has anyone ever seen a VT05 offered or being tossed?

I tossed two working vt05 back in the early 90's and have regretted it ever since.

I think they had a 12" screen.

I saw one for sale a few years ago - for $3600. I love the look of that terminal, but I thought $3600 was a ridiculous price. It eventually sold though.

You thought the VT100 was ugly? Or was it just yours that was ugly? (yellowed?) The VT05 and VT100 are the only terminals from Digital that I like the look of.

(Edit: I just noticed that the original poster asked in 2011.)

What I found strange is how they started off with such an amazing early design and later terminals got uglier and uglier. Whyyyy!

If I had a non-functional VT05 or even a shell I would seriously consider taking a mold from it and repopping in fibreglass, then flog on eBay for buyers to fit out with their own keyboard and screen hardware :)
