A week ago I got a bunch of really nice Tandy stuff. Eight boxes full of documentation
software and parts. And machines: a model II + external disk unit, a model 12 and 16.

I already had a model II ( http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/showthread.php?33751-TRS-80-model-II-boot-disk )

But the nicest thing was the 8 meg 8" external harddisk. But unfortunately
I don't have the right controller for it. I have a series 2 HD controller.
And really I would love to see the 8" running on a model II.

Any suggestions where to find a series 1 controller?

First, if the 8" drive was transported without the locking tab engaged then forget it. It is probably gone.
If it was shipped with the locking tab engaged the you will need to get one of the older interfaces (as you know). They are pretty rare. I just gave my last one away.

The disk was locked when I got it. But of course I don't know it's history.

Another interesting item is this graphics card for the model II

Hello lowen,

Here are some pics of the boards. The graphics board has two empty sockets when they are new in the box.
You have to pull out the two chips from the original display card and put in the flat cables into these sockets.
Then you can put the chips into the graphics board and connect the cable ends also to the graphics board.

So it is actually an extension on your existing card.

If someone wants the full resolution pictures, just drop me a line.

I might actually have the Type 1 8" drive controller here. Would you by chance have the Hard Disk Utilities floppy?
