I have some PS/2 Model 25s I'd like to restore to working order, and if memory serves, they came with "shortened" Model M keyboards without a keypad, to better fit the reduced width of the Model 25. Does anyone have the model number for these? I'd like to find one for each Model 25 I'm restoring.

I believe this is the model, but am unsure: http://i.stack.imgur.com/QdFYD.jpg

Be prepared to pay through the nose for one. Demand from "keyboard enthusiasts" has skyrocketed the value of Spacesaver Model M keyboards. $300 is "cheap" for one, and the gray Industrial version can easily sell for over $1000.

I don't think PS/2s came with a short "Space Saver Keyboard" but rather, was a no cost option of either a normal full Model M or lighter, smaller "Space Saver" Model M without the numeric keypad. Most did not request the shorter model but just when for the one that came with it. Since there were not many who opted for it, they are rare.

"AUG 1987 - IBM introduces the PS/2 Model 25, with an 8-MHz Intel 8086, combined system unit with monitor, no hard drive, and reduced-size keyboard, starting at US$1350."

I stand corrected. Now I can take my PS/2 Model 25 (with hard drive) and marry it with my SSK Model M keyboard. Thanks for pointing that out. I always like to match things up correctly.

I was afraid of that.

I might be able to get ya one maybe. I need to check my friends warehouse.

If you do, and can keep the price in the double digits, I'd be grateful, thanks.

Thanks to everyone for confirming some of the part numbers.

On checking "sold" items on E-Bay the going rate seems to be between $200 and $250 dollars

Interestingly the official IBM Model 25 Carrying Case came with a keyboard pouch that accommodated either size keyboard.

I bought a model 25 when it was new, and it came with the short M keyboard. Mentioned this on other threads, I bought the "Collegiate Kit", which also included Windows 1.04 which works on dual 720K drives.

No!!!!! They're MINE!!! ;)

@ Trixter, if you've some early On-Line Systems/Sierra software that you're willing to trade, say pre-1987, I'd be willing to trade you a nice SSK. I got all 3 of mine cheap, including the two that are still NOS. I need money, and was planning to bolt-mod and ebay all 3, but for you, would be willing to work our a trade, perhaps with some Sierra stuff that also has some value but that you picked up cheaply as well. PM me if you're interested.
