I have one that will not read disks. Tried a second one I have and it's fine. Looking for one of these or adjacent, older, newer series model# that is compatible.

Thanks

IBM's goof up. Buying crappy floppy drives. Mitsubishi's were the worst followed by Alps. Sony's were the most reliable. Thing is the non IBM PS/2 versions of those drives work fine! The drive you are looking for is it the big blue eject button or small one?

The eject button itself is about an inch long with the skinnier part of the back of it in a metal eject tab. This one is an ALPS DFP723D12A. Looks like it was made in 1988. I may try to test/replace caps and look at the photo resistor. It has a loose looking trace wire and a few cold solder joints. A bit of reflow is on order as well to see if it will revive it.
