    phones vs. DSLRs

Check your local photo shop, there should be at least one, they usually have bins of medium-grade different condition digital cameras (way cheaper than latest end-of-era small full auto premium film ones, which are _expensive_, as everyone wants to film, but doesn't want to do any work)

    phones vs. DSLRs

Another plus: if the battery is not dead it'll last longer, and usung dedicated camera won't drain your phone's when you need it later.

    phones vs. DSLRs

It actually quite in vogue to do this Also it’s not DSLR, there is no reflex happening, proper term would be “fixed-lens mirrorless zoom”, which also will make you a tick-tock star in no time. And yes, the quality in most cases will be worse, probably noisier, but in some better lighting...

    McIDE-CF in my 8560

    > have you tried pressing the A key Of course, by not booting I mean it tries to do that, but hangs with drive light on. The same floppy boots fine in the same drive if I disable mcide bios, have to remove the card for that as I can’t load reference disk once bios is enabled

    McIDE-CF in my 8560

Seems like incompatibility with mcide-cf, mine also does not boot from working refdisk in a: if I enable mcide bios, To dos to start to see cf card I had to partition/format it with fdisk from that machine

Seeing this (C-12 scope camera) and the asking price. Why?

One can pretty often replace 120 film back with a digital back. Not too cheap too, though

Help needed to revive an old IBM PS/1 Pro desktop PC

On ps/2 161/163 errors won’t go away until ones sets the system up in the bios (refdisk on ps/2, ps/1 do have bios). Quick google got me ps/1 maintenance manual on manualslib which says to get into “configuration utility” one either press enter when the errors are shown or presses f1.

    Determining Hardware on a Laptop

I could not find it via hp's search but I did find it with a web search, seems its your exact model https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-pavilion-g7-2200-notebook-pc-series/model/5309536 (url says 2200 but its 2240us, intel-based)

You probably already checked there, but it seems they do have drivers as old as 2011 for win7, is it the wrong model? https://support.hp.com/ca-en/drivers/hp-pavilion-g7-1100-notebook-pc-series/5082232

Given that Maya 1 was released in 1998 and 2.5 in 2000, chances are its for Maya 1 or 2. Or might as well be for any other Alias|Wavefront software.

So, should we all buy this 386 thingy?

    Pocket 386

    > Trust by verify I can assure after living several decades there, there is no "Trust", only "verify", most of the times "verify 3 times". It's just an old saying. So I would very much not like for government to go that way, but sometimes there should be some balance, I agree.

They do actually force you to get "smog-check" in California each couple years after some years when the car is no longer new. But no brakes or anything. You must have lights in the night, highway patrol might fine you if you don't but no one check them for you, I think its a reasonable...
