Anyone else here really miss electronics stores?

In case anyone is interested, there's a Zenith Z-17 in Seattle: GovDeals

Mid Atlantic Odd Gray 3.5” Floppy Drive - make offer

(reaches down to the the floppy pile and pulls one out)... Yup, thought it looked familiar. From a Gateway, mine's a JU-257A796PC. :)

    Itronix XC-6000 Rugged Laptop

rowdy: I'm only 5 years into the 35 year "collection" here, and last had my hands on the XC6000 discs somewhere around 16 years ago, but I believe the one on driverguide is what you're looking for. I will continue to watch for the real McCoy, though...

Pacific Northwest Original 3.5" installation disks

@Chuck(G) I've got a WAN facing NAS here that I could set up a generic RO account to give access to users of VCF, and set anyone up for RW that needs it... Currently 1.8TB of space available.

British Columbia NeXT's Big "Mountains of Crap" Spring Sale

If it wasn't for having to downsize myself, the Lyrec sure is tempting. Love the burnt sienna shag!

    stopped before I've started

While it may work well with a USB keyboard after boot, until you plug in a PS/2 keyboard, go into CMOS and disable halt on keyboard error, you'll be stuck. You forgot to add: Press F1 to continue. :)

Floppy A is found but won't read disk.

If you were as diligent in cleaning as I suspect, removing the CMOS battery to get the gunk out from under it forced you to "load defaults" the first time you booted it. There's a really good chance that the defaults aren't necessarily what the drive's capabilities are. I have a MB that...

    Anyone knowledgeable on FreeDOS 1.3?

Assuming (without personal experience) that the entirety of the /bin folder was installed, add call cdrom.bat to fdauto.bat, it's how the boot disc found your DVD. If it wasn't installed, look in the /freedos/bin folder of the ISO. Of course, you could did deeper and figure out which part of...

Raw HDD cloning tool for DOS?

Nice find, Vin, and thanks for sharing! Dolly went straight to my disk tools archive. :) I was going to suggest dd after booting a live Ubuntu 4.04 or 5.10 until I read your success post.

Pacific Northwest ***WANTED ANY 80’s COMPUTER***

@Arlo I have too low of a post count to DM yet, but I asked my better half if a road trip to Oly would be something she'd be interested in and... she is! Turns out her last surviving uncle moved to Tacoma recently from Grand Coulee and she'd like to see him. We'll have to see what the three...

Pacific Northwest ***WANTED ANY 80’s COMPUTER***

@Arlo Any particular items you're interested in? I've got an Imperial portable that powers up (all-in-one with the keyboard latched to the base, a suitcase...), but I've never gotten it past a flashing cursor. There's a Northgate 386/20 with a ship date of 6 April 1990 on it, and I also have...

    Itronix XC-6000 Rugged Laptop

rowdy: I remember that battery calibration, it was quite awesome and accurate. I'll keep digging through my archives (getting ready to downsize after 34 years in the same house) and let you know. Have you tried splitting the pack open at the seam to see what cells are inside? I have a...

    Itronix XC-6000 Rugged Laptop

Patrick, I can't DM yet, not enough posts. You'd think I'd have had something to add to a conversation since 2018... :) It looks like $24.75 via US Postal, UPS is quite a bit higher. Smallest flat-rate box that it'll fit in. I've only found one so far, with a 110 adapter and 12v cigarette...
