I already uploaded it to Vetusware at that time as well — so you'll get it from there. If the one you've downloaded is the only one to be found there — then it's the version uploaded by me, I don't have any other version of Periscope, sorry.
Personally I use the new version of debug — LDebug...
If you mean that BASIC/Pascal like languages, then the better idea may be to get the more „modern” versions of them, like Power BASIC 3.50 (the last version for DOS), or Unicomal 3.11.
But I still recommend Forth — modern Forth for DOS, like DX Forth, for example.
No HL language was as efficient on resource-constrained systems as Forth was (and still is). Add to that OOP that Forth (almost) always had (CREATE..DOES) — even, when the term itself wasn't even coined, and its „virtual memory” ability thank to Forth's „block system”.
Not quite — Debugx may have „resident” feature set pretty similar, but LDebug gained recently a whole lot of extensions in form of *.ELD files. Just try it!
For all of you interested in x86 assembly programming this newest edition of „debug” may be truly interesting, as being fitted with numerous improvements and add-ons: https://pushbx.org/ecm/download/ldebug.zip
How do you think: why Hitachi has two lines of its HD64180 — one for Motorola peripherals and the other one for Zilog family? Because they wanted to raise their manufacturing costs? ;) Honestly, although probably that chip can be „raped” to work in your SBC somehow, still the better idea would...
