    Zenith Data Systems Model ZCV-251-EC

Actually it was WAAAAY easier. I spent multiple weeks looking, reading and searching for an answer. The incredibly advanced Bios (for a 286 anyways) has the option right in there to use an external video card and disable the internal. I have since added an adaptec ISA scsi card, an ET4000ax...

I noticed a lot of threads that are a decade+ old coming back up again, what's up with that?

Midwest GRID Systems Power Adapter P/N 879-3088

So.. I plugged it in and nothing happened. It's very easy to unscrew the bottom, so I'll see if I can dig in and see what's going on. Maybe consider this non-working at the moment unless that green light doesn't come on until its plugged into the device? I don't remember

Midwest GRID Systems Power Adapter P/N 879-3088

Hi, I will plug it in and give it a shot. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not to plug it in after not using it for so long without some checking-over first.

    Zenith Data Systems Model ZCV-251-EC

Hi Caluser2000.. since you seem to be quite knowledgable on these, literally the last piece of my puzzle is dropping in a better video card. I have stacks of them that would certainly be better than the on-board graphics, but I can't figure out how to disable it. I don't see any jumpers that...

Midwest GRID Systems Power Adapter P/N 879-3088

Hi all. I've had this GRID Systems power adapter in my collection for almost 30 years. I just happened to find it at the bottom of a box, and I remember in the late 90's I had picked up a Gridpad or something like that super cheap and this was the power adapter for it. Now I don't have...

Questions on Columbia Data Products Portable

Thanks! I guess I should have checked the Old Computers site for specs, I'm going to get this cleaned up and functional again and play around with it a bit. It does have one mystery expansion card installed, i'm not really sure what it is yet. It almost looks like a 9 pin monitor connector...

Questions on Columbia Data Products Portable

I came across this Columbia Data Products portable computer, and i'd like to get more information on it. It's a long story, but I actually briefly tested this out years ago and I believe it was working at the time if I remember correctly. Now it's being given to me, and before I try and use it...

    Zenith Data Systems Model ZCV-251-EC

Hi, for anyone that might know, can I use a different ISA video card in here and disable the on-board VGA? I found a much better Tseng ET4000ax in my collection but when I install it, it does really strange things on both adapters (missing cursers, graphics corruption). It's definitely trying...

    Zenith Data Systems Model ZCV-251-EC

Sure! I've added an SB16 a while back since I had it laying around and 4mb of memory. Like i've heard others say, it's definitely pretty quick for a 286. It seems so easy to pop out the cpu card, I just wish there were 386 CPU cards on the used market (which there should be looking at the model...

    Zenith Data Systems Model ZCV-251-EC

I have one of these and i've been trying to find information on it, and its extremely hard. It's been fun seeing all your updates for the past decade. I've been looking for specific model details on the 286 system I have, possible cpu card upgrades or anything else (still haven't found a...
